A visit to Lant
Hill Farm is a lifestyle experience! It is more than just a place to
sleep and grab a bite to eat. A trip to Lant Hill Farm offers visitors
the chance to experience the natural benefits of life in the country; an
alternative lifestyle for those who dare!
About the Farm
Your host at the
B&B, Donald Previtali, purchased Lant Hill Farm in 1971 for its fields
that had been farmed by generations of the Lant family with traditional
crop rotation and limited use of chemicals. Don chooses to farm his land
and manage his animals through the practices of sustainable agriculture.
This includes a variety of organic and holistic farming techniques that
support biodiversity and encourage the continued health of the local
ecosystem.
Don’s parents soon
followed to their son’s farm to enjoy their retirement. Jamie, the fine
artist, designed and built their contemporary dream house which is now
used as the B&B. Helen, the landscape artist, designed the grounds to
capture the beauty of flowers, trees, food, and water to please the soul
wherever you look.
With the B&B
situated centrally atop the fields on the farm, many guests are
surprised that they are really on a working farm. As the second home on
the property, the B&B house is set away from the barns and original,
turn-of-the-century farmhouse. Although you can see for miles and miles
from the bedrooms, you cannot see another building from the B&B.
The animals
currently on the farm are beef cows, and their young, which were born on
the farm this spring. A flock of brown and black Sexlink chickens wander
the grounds and help with the fresh country breakfasts.
The
fields grow the feed for the farm animals. Gardens and orchards supply
food for the family, friends, and guests at the B&B.
